WE ARE IN ATHENS
Hello everyone! I'm sorry I have not been very good about keeping with my blog as I intended. I did not bring my own computer with me, and I have not been able to keep up with it (time at internet cafes add up when your on a budget). I'M at the Aprodite hostel now in Athens (where they have free unlimited internet use). We have been traveling just about 3 weeks now (time flies). We started off in Rome for 2 nights (at a very over priced hotel-bad choice-but we were way jet lagged. Then we took a 7 hour train ride to Bari Italy, crossed into Patras Greece on like a 17 hour Ferry (we slept on the Ferry-not in a cabin-on the floor). Then from Patras we went to Athens and took another Ferry through the night to Chania, Crete. We Stayed in Chania for 1 week. Part of that time we rented a car and drove into the Mountains all the way to the Samharia Gorge Beautiful! We have lots of pictures. The towns perched on the cliff sides were amazing! After Chania we move to Rethynmon, Crete (about an hour away) Really neat old Medieveal town with winding streets. We stayed at a hostel here right in town. After Rethynmon We moved on to the island of Santorini where we stayed in Perissa at a very affordable hotel for 4 nights. We rented four wheelers and drove all around the island. The whole island was beautiful. Oia was breathtaking (you should look up a picture on google since I can't put my pics on right now). Fira was also beautiful. From Santorini we took a ferry back to Athens (where we are currently). The boat ride from Santorini was the worst yet (everyone including Brian and I were seasick) The waves must have been 20 feet, no kidding. Anyway I got to go, I'm at a hostel and people are waiting for their turn on the computer. I will have lots more details when I get back. Both Brian and I are keeping a journal and taking lot of pictures. Cheers Erin
